Many of you have been asking why I decided to protect the R-rated pages on the site with Sex Key.

I therefore will try and answer as best I can.

First off, I want to make clear that most of the pictures on my pages are NOT protected by Sex Key and are completely FREE and ACCESSIBLE.

Second, a little bit of history of my site may explain my decision. When I first started, my goal with this site was to provide a place where people could exchange pictures of a few actresses (my personal favourites) that I felt were underrepresented on the web. I started out with just Joanna Kerns and Gates McFadden, since those two were my favourite. Additionally, those two were actresses who (to my knowledge at the time) had never done nude scenes and had no REAL nude pictures on the web. All I could find of either actress was either fake nudes, or G-rated pictures. While I hoped for some nude pictures, I realized that it was probably unrealistic for 40 year old actresses to suddenly do nude scenes.

I recognized that I would be providing most of the pictures, but I hoped that others would contribute as well, and they did. Lo and behold, I began to get exactly what I was looking for: those sexy but non-nude pictures that never seem to appear on the web. Things like underwear and swimsuit shots. I also got information on appearances which I managed to track down and scan in myself. The sites began to grow and I quickly added more of my favourite actresses.

Then a funny thing happened, I began to be able to find nude pictures of many of the actresses. No, they generally weren't the all out nude pictures you'd find in Playboy or the like, but were rather things like bare buns shots, portions of breasts or buns through underwear, nipple peeks, etc. I gladly shared these pictures with everyone for free.

Then I hit a brick wall: the ISP that was hosting my site sent me a nasty letter, saying that I was being kicked off for violating their no-nudity rules. At the time, I was paying something like $30 a month for 50 MB of space, which although I was not making any money on the site, was affordable enough.

I went looking around for a new ISP, but quickly noticed that they all had this "no nudity clause". I found out that they weren't objected for any moral reason, it was rather that nude pictures are very popular on the Internet, and thus traffic for these sites takes up too much of their bandwidth. I tried to slide it by a few ISPs, but kept getting kicked off.

All this time I was also getting objections from many visitors. Many of them objected to the nudity on the site, and I noticed many emails that seemed to be from people who were under 18, so I personally didn't feel all that great about having nude pictures on the site.

I basically decided enough was enough. I needed a solution that would solve all of these problems. I had two choices: remove the nude pictures entirely, or place some adult verification on there. In order for the adult verification to work, I would need to be making some money off of it to cover the costs of using an "adult" ISP ($500 a month for this site). Sex Key seemed like the solution, and I stand by that decision. Since the change, a new law was passed in Congress requiring adult verification before any nude picture is displayed on the Internet, so I feel I got in just in time.

I don't feel that I am greedy in this regard. I am still losing money on this site (even with the Sex Key and the banner ads), but its back down to a manageable level. If you don't feel like paying for the pictures, then don't. I won't blame you. Unfortunately, there are many unscrupulous sites out there that charge for access to nude pictures and then you get the same-old-same-old, or you don't get the pictures you were expecting, or they are fakes, or whatever. I don't do any of that. I am completely open and honest about what you are going to get if you sign up, and I'm happy to answer any questions you may pose before you get an ID. I also feel I have unique subject matter not available anywhere else.

I should also point out that while there are many BAD Sex Key sites out there, there are many really good ones too. Its actually FREE and I feel any of the good sites would be worth it on its own. of course, that's up to the individual to decide.

As far as donation of pictures. I realize at first glance it may seem a little weird to ask for donation of pictures when portions of the site require a fee. However, keep in mind that only a small percentage of the site requires a charge, and I look at it as similar to a museum charging admission but still asking for donations of artwork and such to stay open. While I do a lot of scanning myself, a large number of the pictures on this site are user-donated. Most pay sites out there charge for access to ANY pictures on the site, and I challenge you to find me a site with over 2000 pictures that does not charge for access, especially one with nude pictures.
